Get Ready to Vote for Housing!

ree

This post will provide you with opportunities and information to make your vote count for better housing and homelessness services in Edmonton.

1) ECOHH has developed a pamphlet based on the issues that we feel are most important in this year's municipal election. We've also developed a list of questions that some of our members will be asking at candidate forums, and we encourage all of you to ask candidates who are at your door or looking to solicit your vote.

You can access both the pamphlet and the list of questions here (pamphlet download link) and here (questions download link), or on our Resources page.

2) ECOHH is an election partner with Taproot Edmonton. ECOHH, along with over thirty other organizations in the city, submitted our most important issues for the candidates to consider. Taproot developed a survey from those submissions that they asked every candidate to fill out.

We encourage people to focus on the candidates' answers to questions about issues relevant to housing and homelessness. There will be many people and organizations championing the cause of business and development.

The following provides you information from Taproot about their survey and other election resources, including the voter matching engine.

This "voter matching engine," as we've called it in some places, is accompanied by a robust voter guide, all motivated by Taproot's mission to help you make informed choices in the 2025 municipal election.

Voters can take the same survey the candidates did, and see to what extent they share their views and priorities: taproot.vote/match.

You can learn more about how the tool works in Taproot's recent blog post.

Their revamped election website, edmonton.taproot.vote, has a lot more to explore:

  • Use the Election Guide to find your ward, voting station, list of candidates, and other useful information.

  • Browse the list of candidates running for mayor, city council, and the school boards. Each candidate's profile page includes their survey responses (if they completed it), contact information, and a pitch to voters if they provided one.

  • The Taproot Survey page includes a page for each question, showing how every candidate responded to it.

Taproot is excited to launch their tool that helps voters find out how the candidates running for mayor and city council in Edmonton align with them on the issues that matter most.
