14th Annual Homeless Memorial

ree

A sincere thank you to all who were able to join us on Wednesday June 15th for ECOHH's 14th annual homeless memorial, where we gathered to remember and honor the 99 individuals in 2019, 132 individuals in 2020 & 222 individuals in 2021 who died unnecessarily – directly or indirectly – as a result of experiencing homelessness (more details linked here). For those unable to attend, Paula Kirman kindly shared a video of the memorial. This event would not have been possible without our Homeless Memorial Committee, the support of many community organizations and our invited guests and speakers for putting the event together, including:

  • Susan Watson (committee chair)

  • Nadine Chalifoux

  • Delmy Garcia-Hoyt

  • Jim Gurnett

  • Jeannette Wright

  • Boyle Street Community Services

  • City of Edmonton

  • Edmonton Food Bank

  • Listen Louder

  • Bannock Cooks (Moppy Cardinal & Shelly Collins)

  • Farley Magee

  • Monty Sunchild-Baptiste

  • Michelle Nieviadomy

  • Stephanie Burlie

  • Neil Kennedy

  • Lorette Goulet

  • Chubby Cree

  • Dale McDonald

A special thank you to each of you for making the memorial possible, along with the many volunteers who helped set up, during the event and after. Thank you to Paula Kirman for creating a photo album on FB (viewable here) and to Bradley Lafortune for sharing these photos:
