Edmonton Supports SHHR Call to Action event Oct. 5, 2023 alongside other cities- Fund Social Housing
On Thursday, October 5th, communities across Canada gathered for the Social Housing and Human Rights Day of Action to call on Prime Minister Trudeau and the Canadian government to take action to solve the housing crisis by funding social housing.
Call to Action: invest in a minimum of 30,000 net new social housing units annually over 10 years where rents are no more than 30% of household income, beginning in Budget 2024.
Actions took place in the seven cities listed below and the excitement we generated helped us identify new allies across the country! We look forward to building on the momentum we are gaining in every province and territory to strengthen our campaign for social housing across Canada.
Actions took place in:
Ottawa
Winnipeg
Edmonton
Victoria
Thunder Bay
