Homeless Memorial

All are invited to join us this Wednesday June 15 at 2pm at the Homeless Memorial Plaza for the 14th Annual Homeless Memorial to honor & remember our friends, relatives, neighbors, community members & loved ones who died as a direct or indirect result of not having access to an adequate home. This includes the lives, hopes and dreams of:

99 human beings in 2019, 132 individuals in 2020 and 222 individuals in 2021 (press release)

The Homeless Memorial Plaza is located in front of the CN Tower, on 100 Avenue and 103A Avenue – directly across the street from the North Side of City Hall: directions / map.

The Memorial will begin at 2:00 PM with a brief service including Indigenous drumming, singing, a call to order by an Edmonton Police Services Piper and a commemoration ceremony. Light refreshments will be provided.

Any volunteers able to assist us on June 15 with:

  • Set up: between 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm (i.e. canopies, tables, chairs, refreshments, folding programs)

  • During the event: starting at 2:00 pm (welcoming attendees / handing out programs, handing out flowers, serving snacks following the commemoration ceremony)

Since 2006 the Homeless Memorial Service has become an annual event hosted by ECOHH to grieve and remember our loved ones who died during the previous year from the direct or indirect result of not having access to an adequate home (with the exception of pausing ECOHH's annual memorial in 2020 & 2021 on account of COVID19).
