New Beginnings Transition Village (Dec. 14/21)

Our invited speaker for our December 14, 2021 monthly member's meeting was Stephen Luoni, who joined us from the University of Arkansas Community Design Centre (UACDC) to discuss the New Beginnings Transition Village. He kindly allowed us to record his presentation, which can be viewed on YouTube here.

This project meets the standards of a human rights approach to housing instability and encampments and was made possible in part by the support of Fayetteville's City Council (i.e. granting a 5-year conditional use permit). The UACDC also created a prototype for a transition village that can be effectively used anywhere – as long as the implementation follows the model of the village as intended.
